ST.GREGORIOS BALAGRAM EYE HOSPITAL

Since no modern eye care facility at an affordable cost was available nearby, Balagram took up the challenge of setting up a modern eye hospital in its campus. With the help of its well-wishers, the eye hospital became a reality in July 2001. Equipped with modern equipment and well trained staff the hospital has already conducted over 1000 cataract surgeries with IOL implantation , a high percentage of these, free of cost.

The hospital also provides employment opportunities and training facilities to the inmates of Balagram. As of now 5 ex inmates of Balagram are employed in the hospital.

The hospital has a tie up with The International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye Care (ICARE) of the world famous L V Prasad Eye Institute of Hyderabad (LVPEI) and through ICARE with Eyesight International, Canada and has strived to provide the same high standard of service provided by LVPEI.

Operation Eye Sight Universal of Canada (OEU) has  been supporting the hospital including in its community work. The hospital with its well trained staff and modern facilities has been rated as one of the best  assisted by OEU.
